This privacy policy applies to the FMH Calendar Alert macOS application ("the app"), published on the Mac App Store by Coates IT, trading as FM Hosting UK, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
It describes how the app handles information. It does not cover the FM Hosting UK website — for that, please see our main website Privacy Policy.
None. FMH Calendar Alert does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. We — the developer — receive no information about you, about your calendars or reminders, or about how you use the app. This matches the "Data Not Collected" declaration shown on the app's App Store listing.
The app has no server component. It does not send your events, your reminders, your settings, or any identifier anywhere.
FMH Calendar Alert needs to read your calendars and your reminders in order to do its job: it has to know when your next event starts, and when a reminder falls due, so it can warn you beforehand. On first launch, macOS will ask you to grant the app access to each of these.
The app uses Apple's EventKit framework, which is the standard, system-controlled way for a Mac app to read calendar and reminder data. Through it, the app reads:
The app never creates or deletes anything, and it does not add a calendar or list of its own.
There is one case where it writes: if you choose “Move to tomorrow” on an alert, it moves that single event or reminder forward by one day, keeping the same time. Nothing else about the item is altered. This only ever happens when you pick it from the alert yourself — the app never reschedules anything on its own.
Your calendars and reminders stay where they already live — in macOS Calendar and Reminders and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. FMH Calendar Alert keeps no copy of them.
The only things the app stores are small items needed to work correctly, all held locally on your Mac inside the app's sandboxed container:
If you turn on spoken announcements, the app reads the event or reminder aloud using macOS's own built-in speech synthesis. That speech is generated by your Mac.
FMH Calendar Alert does not use your microphone, does not listen to you, and does not record any audio.
FMH Calendar Alert does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details such as your name or email address in order to use it. The app is free of charge and there is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no cloud service behind it.
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. It does not build a profile of you, and it does not track your activity across other apps or websites.
Calendar access and Reminders access are the only permissions the app asks for, and both are controlled by macOS — not by us. You can review or withdraw either at any time:
They are independent: you can grant one and refuse the other, and the app will simply alert you about whichever it can see. If you withdraw both, the app can no longer alert you at all — but nothing of yours is retained by us either way.
FMH Calendar Alert is distributed through Apple's Mac App Store and runs in Apple's App Sandbox. The download itself is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Apple may provide us with anonymised, aggregated download statistics that do not identify you. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles that information.
Similarly, if your calendars and reminders sync through iCloud, that syncing is Apple's service and is governed by Apple's privacy policy — our app simply reads what is already on your Mac.
FMH Calendar Alert is a productivity tool intended for general and professional use. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children under 13.
If the app's functionality changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this policy and revise the "Effective" date at the top of the page. Because the current app collects no data, we expect changes to be rare.
